The Political Aspects Of Political Surveys - 842 Words

This paper talks about two main surveys, one is On Moral Issues, Not All Protestants Are Created Equal and Latinos and the second one is 2010 Elections: Strong Support for Democrats; Weak Voter Motivation. It will talk about the main topics, population size, sample size and comparing the sample sizes needed to complete the surveys. Political survey (from Gallup or Pew Research) According to Gallup’s annual Values and Beliefs surveys conducted each May 2001-2017, random samples of 1000 protestant were question on their religious identification and moral views. This included the Episcopal, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Methodist, Other Baptist, Southern Baptist, Non-denominational, and Pentecostal religions. 41% accept abortion, 61% are ok with†¦show more content†¦63% of the religions are for the death penalty, with the highest record of 73 being non-denominational and lowest at 53 being Pentecostal church. Therefore, by looking at Pentecostal records show that they are less acceptable to these moral views than all the rest of the religions (Newport, 2017). General survey (from Gallup or Pew Research) According to Pew Research Center, in 2010, 1,375 Latinos were surveyed to see who voted for Democrats or Republicans. The population size for the survey was 1375, with a sample size of 601, and a minimum sample size of 245, a confidence level of 95% with a confidence interval of 3%. This article shows multiple surveys: of voter preference for congress, the motivation for voting, the concern for Hispanics, top issues among Latino voters. As of 2010, the Democrats had most of the Latino votes at 65% while the Republican had 22% of the Latino votes. 32% of the Latino voters have thought â€Å"quite a lot â€Å"about the Novembers elections while 51% of Latinos said they were certain that they will vote in the Novembers elections. During the presidency of Obama, 51% of Latinos felt that his policies did not influence them while 26% said they had been helpful to Latinos and 13% said the policies were harmful (Lopez, 2010). The three top concerns for the Latino voters are Education, Jo bs, and Healthcare. 58% of Latinos are concerned about Education, 54% are concerned Jobs and 51% are concerned about Healthcare.
